A proud Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, Kalkadoon, and Yirendali woman, Miss Kaninna is a Naarm-based (Melbourne) First Nations artist hailing from lutruwita/Tasmania. Bursting onto the scene with her debut single Blak Britney in May 2023, the rapper, singer, and songwriter has quickly become a powerful voice of punk and protest in so-called Australia. Raised on the shores of Bruny Island, Miss Kaninna has been commanding stages from a young age, blending the storytelling traditions of her ancestors with her own experiences as a young Black woman on stolen land.

Blak Britney garnered widespread acclaim, landing #1 on triple j within weeks of its release. Known for her ferocious charisma and anti-establishment energy, Miss Kaninna has graced the stages of major festivals like Meredith Music Festival, Beyond the Valley, and the 2024 Laneway tour alongside Stormzy, Raye, and Steve Lacy. Her follow-up single Pinnacle Bitch, a club-ready anthem celebrating authenticity and resistance, amassed 250,000 streams and earned her the 2023 triple j Unearthed Artist of the Year. With standout performances at SXSW Sydney and Texas, and key placements on Netflix’s Heartbreak High, Miss Kaninna is cementing her place as a groundbreaking artist at the forefront of Black pop in Australia.
