Grammy-winning artist Allison Russell is a masterful storyteller, weaving powerful narratives through her music that resonate deeply with listeners. A self-taught singer, songwriter, poet, activist, and multi-instrumentalist, Russell has redefined modern artistry since the release of her first solo album just three years ago. Her work, from the soul-stirring Outside Child, a celebration of survivors' joy, to the expansive and liberating sounds of The Returner, has established her as one of the most vital voices in contemporary music. Russell's artistry transcends expectations, affirming her place as a trailblazer in the 21st century.

Russell's impact is reflected in the numerous accolades she has received, including a Grammy win for Best American Roots Performance for her powerful single “Eve Was Black,” along with seven additional nominations. She has also been honored with the Juno Award for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year, the Americana Music Association’s 2023 Spirit of Americana Award, and the 2022 Album of the Year Award, among others. Alongside her Rainbow Coalition Band—a diverse ensemble of Black, POC, queer, and historically marginalized musicians—Russell uses her music to promote the vision of a “Beloved Community,” uplifting others as she continues to ascend in her remarkable career.
